At least 18 people were killed during a predawn fire that struck a three-story building housing Novo Jeans and Shirts along Montilla Boulevard. All of the victims were believed to be salesladies of the said garment store.

A predawn fire hit a two-story building along Recto Avenue which killed a 41-year old man. He was trapped inside the factory when he tried to save some valuables of his. While another man was injured when he suffered some minor burns which happened to be the owner’s cousin. The estimated property damage was one million pesos and the origin of the said blaze remains unknown.

Quezon City Fires

The scorching heat of the sun is the one thing in common when fires broke out in separate areas in Quezon City for two consecutive afternoons. Last Thursday, two people were killed and injured at least six others when a blaze took place in West Riverside area in Damayan Village. Another fire destroyed several houses in Agham Road area last Friday wherein residents tried to recover some of their belongings after the fire was put under control.

A residential fire along Kanlaon Street broke out a day after the strong, month-long campaign against fire in this city. It reached second alarm and no one was reported injured.

Grand Central Mall

The Ever Gotesco Grand Central Mall along Rizal Avenue in Caloocan City continued to be covered with smoke when it started to catch fire since Friday evening at 10 PM. At least 16 firefighters were injured as they combat such a huge conflagration.

Three fires, three lives

Recalling three fires which took place four days before Fire Prevention Month, a batch of three separate fires took place anew four days after. The blaze gets worse as three children were killed during their sleep and left a hundred families homeless at FB Harrison Street in Pasay City which was put out early Sunday morning. While another fire at Sanga Street in Taguig City razed 15 houses before midnight Sunday. Both fires were said to be caused by unattended lighted candles. Also, a fire of undetermined origin razed a two-story house at Aguinaldo Street in Quezon City last Sunday night. All fires reached fourth alarm.

Around 50 homes made of light materials were destroyed during noon fire which left over 80 families homeless. It took an hour before the blaze was put under control. This was the fourth fire incident in the village for the last three years, hence a fire prone area. The local fire bureau reminded Filipinos to be more vigilant because fires usually occur during the fire prevention season.

At least 16 people were hurt and a boy was killed after three separate fires hit Metro Manila between Friday night and predawn Saturday. Such incidents followed a big conflagration which razed a warehouse of grocery items along East Service Road in Paranaque City before dawn of Friday. Hence, fires begin to rise again as we approach Fire Prevention Month this coming March.

Around 20 houses were destroyed leaving a hundred families homeless in Navotas City, while ten houses each were destroyed in Taguig City and Tondo, Manila. The latter caused the death of a boy and injured two of his brothers after hearing a loud explosion at the corner of San Jose and Herbosa Extension. Read full article
