At the height of Dinagyang festival, a huge fire hit two adjacent villages initially affecting Timawa Zone II then Esperanza. The said blaze was declared out after three hours at 8 PM. A predawn fire razed a laboratory clinic which almost trapped a family. They were rushed in a nearby hospital after suffering from mild respiratory distress. Since the fire started from the second floor, smoke readily spread which also caused the patients of the said hospital to evacuate temporarily. The blaze reached third alarm and was controlled an hour later.

A light aircraft of four-seating capacity crashed in a residential area along Taiwan Street which killed at least 14 people including its two pilots. A fire razed a residential area along Quirino Avenue which was initially reported to have reached third alarm. Yet a TXTFire volunteer updated the said report to fourth alarm 20 minutes later at 3:40 pm. Firefighters had to climb roofs to control the blaze and they were looking at faulty electrical wiring as the cause.
